Last week's post was about how the yard seemed to be ready for spring with plants budding out and daffodils about to pop. Talk about being premature!! Yesterday and today brought back freezing temperatures and a treacherous mixture of snow, sleet, and freezing rain. But the bad weather also filled the yard with colorful birds visiting the feeders and looking for some tasty dried mealworms.
A flock of Cardinals decorated the icy branches of the Serviceberry tree.
A Blue Jay waits for mealworms.
Two Mockingbirds aggressively defended "their" mealworms against all, even the Blue Jays.
The yard is already icy and more snow is expected tonight. I really hope tomorrow will be warmer and thaw a bit because I have to get to the bird feeders. Seed is vanishing at an alarming rate!!
